Parents all around the world often struggle with getting their children to sit down and study for longer intervals. After all, the young minds love exploring new things more than the studies. Being young with fragile minds, the little ones aren’t able to determine when they need to stop and get back to their books. It comes down to their parents to ensure that their children can keep their focus. Without proper knowledge, it can be an uphill task for parents and they are left wondering at all times about how to help my child focus.

Those who are serious about things like how to help my child focus must recognize that distraction and un-imaginative teaching techniques are the two biggest culprit here. Let us see how to handle these two challenges.

Children find all distracting things like television, mobile phones, internet, and more to be quite amusing. And if they are pulled away all of a sudden, they aren’t able to come to terms with such instant push, thereby keeping their mind distracted while reading a textbook. This is just the kind of situation that has to be handled carefully to draw positive results. Hence the distractions must be phased out slowly and in a controlled environment and probably replacing it with soothing soft music in the background which would aid concentration.

Now let us look at the second challenge which is how to increase their interest in their own books.

Many children are not able to focus well on their books simply because they don’t find them interesting. For such children, several innovative techniques have been developed, which are fun-filled and give the young minds the opportunity to learn at their own pace. Parents must remember that all children learn at their own pace, and so they must give them the much-needed space. One such visual technique, popularly known as the mind mapping technique, can effectively help children to both memorize and understand better. This method is relatively easy to understand and can deliver fantastic results when delivered right. Both parents and teachers can benefit from this innovative method of learning. Finally, parents must remember that all children learn at their own pace, and so they must give them the much-needed space.

Maneesh Dutt, a popular writer, talks about this technique in detail in his latest book, titled “How to Help Your Child Focus and Concentrate”. Through this book, Maneesh has extended his help for all those parents who aren’t able to help their children sit with their books for a long time. The language of this book is easy to comprehend and can actually help the little minds develop a newfound interest in their studies. It also discusses the role of parents in helping their children learn, and how they can do it the right way.
