Tamil nadu is also known as the temple state of India with the intriguing figures and designs. The culture of state is rich as well ancient. It is a world class destination for all the tourists and there is also a rich population of religious people. In the case of handicrafts, Flowering part is very unique as well they are the part of the rich culture of the tamilnadu state.

The various handicraft category can be seen in the tanjore paintings, Jewelry, stone carving, pottery, wood crafting work etc. Music is also the part of the people’s life here. They often adopt it as their subject in their growing years.

Wooden Crafts –
Wooden handicrafts of Tamilnadu are exported worldwide. In addition to this, baskets and other fibre products are main product categories of wooden handicrafts. Grass, bamboo, cane, Palm handicraft items are considered in this category. Mahabalipuram is very well known for granite and soapstone products.

Metalwares –
In metal handicrafts there is a handicraft items of brass and copper are very important. Today the bell metal is used to make the metal handicrafts due to scarcity of copper. Vases, containers, candle stand, food cases, trays, dishes, toys, geometrical patterns flower vases, lamps, milk containers, water containers are a very good example of metal handicrafts.

Pottery –
Pottery from Karukurichi is very important in this category. Red and grey clay are used to make these potteries. The pottery items are very distinctive and available in different shape and artistic sizes. Many tableware items, decorative animal figures, flower vases, tableware items are used to show the ethnicity of pottery handicrafts.

Musical Instruments –
Music is the life and soul of the Tamil Nadu and it is mostly for manufacturing Veena. Flute, Thamburan are also famous in this category. Thanjavur is also the hometown of the famous musicians here.

Embroidery –
In embroidery designs, we can see the flower patterns on shawls and other clothings. As well the animal and other flower designs are used to make on the clothes. There is also applique work famous which is performed on the hangings of temple. It includes the god and goddess figures.
